Parish Nurse Corner

As we celebrate All Saints Day and Thanksgiving, may we experience the peace that comes from a living relationship with our Great God.

November is also recognized as National Diabetes month. Take the following test to know your risks:

1. I have the following symptoms on a regular basis:
> excessive thirst
> frequent urination
> extreme fatigue
> unexplained weight loss
> blurry vision from time to time

2. I am over 40 years old
3. I am 20% or more over weight
4. I am a woman who has had more than one baby weighing over 9 Ibs. at birth
5. I am of Native American, Black, or Hispanic descent
6. I have a parent with diabetes
7. I have a brother or sister with diabetes

A risk factor for diabetes that is under our control is our weight. May we strive to
make God-pleasing choices about diet and exercise and be encouraged by these words, ". . . for we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses. . . Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. " (Heb. 4:15-16)

If you have any specific concerns, please contact your primary physician or parish nurse.

God's Blessings,
Peggy Taylor, RN Parish Nurse

Thank You

A heartfelt thanks to our First Baptist Church family for the cards, visits, concerns and prayers during Tom's hospital stay and as he returned home. It means so much to know that others are here for us when needed. God bless you all.
